Waymark ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Waymark platform, which helps travel content creators turn their social media recommendations into bookable travel guides ("Blueprints"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

Account information: name, email address, and profile details when you register
Content links: YouTube and Instagram URLs you submit to generate Blueprints
Payout information: payment account details (processed securely via Stripe)
Usage data: how you interact with our platform, pages visited, and actions taken

When you connect your Instagram account, we access the following data through the Meta (Instagram) Graph API:

Your Instagram username and profile information
Captions and text from posts you explicitly submit to create a Blueprint
Location tags associated with your submitted posts

We only access Instagram data for posts you explicitly submit. We do not access your full post history, private messages, followers, or any data beyond what is necessary to generate your Blueprint.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and publish your Blueprints based on the content links you submit
To process bookings made through your Blueprints and calculate your earnings
To send you earnings notifications and payout confirmations
To improve our AI extraction pipeline and location matching accuracy
To communicate with you about your account and our services

3. Data from Instagram (Meta Graph API)

Waymark uses the Instagram Graph API to access caption text from posts you submit. This data is used solely to extract place names and generate your Blueprint. We do not sell, share, or use your Instagram data for advertising purposes. Instagram data accessed through our app is governed by Meta's Platform Terms in addition to this Privacy Policy.

You may revoke Waymark's access to your Instagram account at any time through your Instagram account settings under "Apps and Websites."

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:

With Stripe, to process payments and payouts
With OpenStreetMap/Nominatim, to geocode place names (no personal data is shared)
With service providers who assist our operations, under confidentiality agreements
If required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Blueprint content (extracted place names and GPS coordinates) is retained to serve the live Blueprint page. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw consent for Instagram data access at any time
Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your session. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Payment information is never stored on our servers — it is handled entirely by Stripe.

9. Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to individuals under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the platform. Continued use of Waymark after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
